Project KMWSC01: Violence – leadership and empowerment of survivors

Women in India often face multiple forms of discrimination – because of their gender and because they belong to certain castes, classes or ethnic groups. Their low social status limits their participation and makes them particularly vulnerable to violence, human trafficking and exploitation.

The LES project supports survivors of sexual and domestic violence, abuse and human trafficking. They receive protection, medical and psychological care, legal assistance and access to education and work. Many of those affected are excluded by their families and communities, which increases the risk of renewed violence.

The aim is not only to stabilise the survivors, but to enable them in the long term to live independently, take on leadership roles and actively contribute to a fairer society.
