Divine Script Society (DSS Kolkata), believes quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone,
regardless of where they live or what they can afford.
It now runs one main healthcare centre and two sub-centres in slums in South Kolkata, where
people can access free primary healthcare.
Patients get basic health assessments,vitals checking, doctor consultations, essential medicines
and, when required, support for diagnostic tests. Health awareness and counselling are also part of
the process, helping individuals and families make informed decisions about their well-being.
On an average service day, the main centre sees 40 and sub-centres around 25 patients.
We have also identified nearby slum communities where healthcare facilities are limited and private
treatment is unaffordable. So DSS has already run special health screening camps in two of them.
These camps brought doctors, basic health assessments, medicines and diagnostic support directly
into the communities.
By working with diagnostic service providers and distributing prescribed medicines through our own
dispensary, we helped ensure that people there could receive timely support without having to travel
far or postpone care because of cost.
For DSS healthcare is not simply about responding to illness. It is about helping people care for their
health earlier, supporting families and building stronger communities.
